What is done as soon as the treatment was completed?

There begins the stage that we name a pursuit or control of the patient's evolution. We recommend that less tests to be done, better for the quality of life of the patient and that only to be practised those tests that are truly necessary.

Nevertheless, the type of pursuit: does it depend according to every case, according to TNM, etc?

Really. Let's analyze diverse situations and let's see what the recommended pursuit is:

a) If "deferred treatment" was chosen, every 6 months there is interrogated if symptoms have appeared and practises PSA on him; if there is some doubt, rectal tact. If everything is negative, to continue the control panel here explained.

If, on the contrary, there are symptoms or two or three PSA (one every month) shows a progressive elevation or the rectal tact is suspicious, it does a general balance to itself (ultrasound scan transrectal, gammagrafía bony, abdominal TAC) and if there is illness, it will talk each other according to current stadium.

b) If the illness was located in the prostate and it talked each other with radiotherapy or prostatectomía, PSA two times per year for 5 years. From the 6th year, annually. If there are no problems, to continue with this control; if there are problems, to proceed as in the previous paragraph.

c) If the tumor spread to lymphatic ganglions or produced metástasis, the determinations depend on the treatments and on his results.
